Angelic Destruction: Slut by AliceMeichi Angelic Destruction: Slut by AliceMeichi
Completed: December 2004
Medium: Acrylic

This series of three paintings (Victim, Whore, Slut) was wrenched from my soul by events that tore at my life and incited darkness in my being. Focusing my feelings of destruction into the canvas, these images appeared.. I let go of myself, let go of my normal habits of perfectionist painting.. and poured my hate into the paint.

As an afterthought brought upon my synchronicity after these paintings were created, I realized that the undercurrents of my subject and inspiration related to the XV: The Devil card in Tarot.. Specifically these following passages of an interpretation..
"The Devil comes to you like the most beautiful thing you ever saw. After all, he *is* an angel."

"Instead of being a perfect balance, a union of masculine and feminine within one soul; two unified beings celebrating the blessedness together... the Devil is more likely to manifest as something that looks like love, talks like love, walks like love, smells like love... but isn't love.

In our quest to be loved, before we are whole and love ourselves, we embrace the Devil. It is all we think we want, fills needs we believe no one else can fill, it begins to control our thought patterns and change our world. In modern culture, it is beamed at us, reinforced in us, and constantly referred to AS love, so it isn't surprising when we get confused and turned around and enslave ourselves to it.

Real love does not fill any need in your life. It does not obligate you to any action. It is a reflection of the love you have for your Self, for the world around you, for Deity and wonder and joy. You get love by giving it, freely, without trying to 'buy' affection or display through actions or words. You just open your heart and love the people around you, and people love you back. "
Out of this, came the title of the series. "Angelic Destruction".. Welcome to my pain.

Daily Deviation

Given 2005-01-23
Angelic Destruction: Slut is part of a series of three images by artist *himemiya. Moreso than the content this image, to me, represents what happens when an artist doesn't stress over every little detail of an image. When an artist doesn't concern themselves with making an image pretty, polished and perfect and instead simply pours an intense, raw emotion into their art. ( Featured by MPsai )

Extremely personal image to me. The colors and pose are perfect for what you are conveying. Also that is amazing that you got acrylic paint to look as if it were watercolor. I am very impressed. good work ;)

Congratulations on your daily deviation. I like how you paint from your emotion - it comes out - the painting is raw, and it enhances the talent you obviously have. :) I love ink work, and it is tastefully done on this piece... Congratulations once again!

i'm truly blown away by the intense texturem the raging color... and colors that you wouldn't ussually think to use for something dark. this is really really beautiful... you might say art itself is the ultimate positive outcome of pain and suffering, if the skill and beauty of this piece is inverseley related to your pain and suffering, then i am very sorry for the increditable pain you must have endured. truly amazing

I really appreciate your comment.. I always thought that darkness itself is very rich, with great amounts of dimension so I generally like producing art that reflected that.. Thank you so much.

.....to let emotion control the image is something wonderfully powerful............................. but i do not wish to degrade the emotion expressed here with words that don't fit....... so i will only say it is incredible.... and very sad....

My mother was sexually abused as a child. She used piano study to regain control of her life and her self esteem. This lead to a job at a library - and a network of mentors who encoraged her. She went back to school, then onto to university and eventually became a teacher. Art can be a way out of hell! It is possible to do more than just survive.

More power to you himemiya.

In regards to Sanah's comment, I don't think this is a pessimistic outcry about true love, as what is emphasized in the last quoted paragraph. I feel it is more of a visual representation on what the downfall of "false love" can be, as had been experienced by the subject of the painting.

Truly, this is an incredibly succesful art piece in my opinion. I am very happy that it became a Daily Deviation so that I could experience seeing all three pieces. My favourite of yours though is "Victim", but all of them were rendered quite well. The emotion is extremely telling, even without the quote (though the addition of it is extremely effective). I am truly sorry to hear that you had to experience anything as negative as you had experienced. These paintings bring to me a great sadness, and I can only imagine the feelings of the artist in creating them. I hope that through this expression, and the recognition from DA, you feel that your emotional outcry has been heard. Great work.

Well done on the art work, it is brilliant in its texture and emotion. but what really has me writing this is the description attached, it is an amazing way of looking at something as innocent as love and translating it into an entrapment if anything. In no way am i arguing your preception of reality after all it is "yours". but its just this humane side in me that is just curious to find out wht cld make someone hurt so bad. i dont get it, if i cant love anything if i cant spread the feeling of joy and energy it gives me than i have little purpose here. the person i love the most in this world never fails to be my greatest tormentor but really i cant just give up and call it a consumer driven devilish activity [Pardon my english] .U shd put this thing on a forum and people will talk and you can maybe find a half full glass somewhere.
